The other day while browsing through a bookstore, an older lady probably in her late 40s asked me if I needed any help. I told her I had no idea what I was looking for, just a good book to read. She kindly offered to show me something she has been reading and so I followed her to be polite, even though I highly doubted we would have anything in common as far as books go.
So a second later I found myself in front of these romance novels that practically make me blush just looking at them.

"Ummm, you know, I kind of like reading books without a lot of... um... questionable content in them...?"
"Oh, well, I have just the thing then!"
A minute later I'm standing in front of a section titled 'RELIGIOUS.' Greeeeat.
Not that I'm against religious books, there are just a very specific kind of religious books that I will read.
So she starts pulling these books out for me and saying how they are about Amish life and stuff.
What!!! How the heck did we go from sleazy romance novels to books on Amish living???
Sorry, but just because I don't like to read about Fabio's throbbing whatever, doesn't mean I automatically skip right on over to the extreme opposite. But then again, I am Mormon, don't drink, smoke, swear, steal, read questionable books... might as well be living in a convent! Or an Amish Farm. Oh wait, I'm using a computer and the internet, that won't work out too well. Curse you technology!

HILARIOUS! Who reads any of those? Really, who?!?!?!
Have you heard of the Twilight series? Maybe you should read those. ;)
Yup, read them last year.
This is hilarious!!! This morning I finished a good one called "A Silent Ocean Away" by DeVa Gantt. It's a historical fiction series. The second is called "Decisions and Destiny." I'm anxious to get started on it. The third has yet to come out. It's not about Amish people and the romance content doesn't include Fabio's throbbing whatever, so you should be good there too!!! You make me laugh!
That is so funny! Yeah, I didn't know anyone actually read those.
Fabio's throbbing what?
hhahahaha...seriously so funny...I am just imagining this lady and it is hilarious...you don't want to read the romance novels so she automatically goes Amish...ahahahah!! And I just imagine you sitting there looking at her and I think it is hilarious.
However, those Amish books...which I am guessing are by Beverly Lewis...are kind of a big deal:) I have not read any of them but they have a huge following...who knows...maybe it might be interesting to pick one up and see???? no?
I am curious as if you settled on a book? Maybe I will read along with you.
That is hilarious! Well If you don't read Fabio books well than you MUST be religious! And you must only read religious books...I can just see her thinking that! So funny! How is your pregnancy going? Hope you are feeling well. And to answer your question Katie is moving to Iowa. Her husband is starting Medical school... which means she will be gone for a very long time :(
oh and to Jenny...you would be surprised...I would say I see the majority of women checking out books with a romance novel (or 5) in their stack....the paperback romance section in my library is pretty big and pretty worn. So really...we might actually be the minority...go figure! ha!
And also to Cheri...fun picture you have up top! Love Lily's expression!
It's true. People don't read one of those books, they have cases full. They read like 3 day. Which I can't blame them. Man those books are good. ;) One time I picked out some random one for a girl I knew read them, you know how there like millions? She was like, "Oh I LOVE this one!!" And already owned it. Awesome.
Amy,I might look into those. I need a good read.
Laura, I actually borrowed some books from Brett's older brother. Heard of Clive Cussler? He writes the Dirk Pitt books, like the movie Sahara was written from his novel. I LOVE his adventure books, Pitt is like a mix between James Bond and Indiana Jones. Right now I'm Reading TREAURE.
Now, I have nothing against romance novels, I LOVE romance novels, just not kinds like those. I was trying my best not to laugh while I was still in the store, too.
Kristen, things are going great! I'm like 6 months now and doing fine.
YOu do need to come visit. I can't wait for you to see allllll the things we have done to the house! It's all different!
That is excellent customer service:) So funny! I read a good fantasy series a couple years ago by Jan Siegel. I thought it was pretty good and exciting. It's about mermaids, witches and Atlantis. Forget about the vampires:) There were three books: Prospero's children, Dragon charmer, and Witch Queen. You know, if you're into that.
