Super Duper Quick, But FUN!

When asked what he wanted for Father's Day, Brett said he wanted to go camping. So after deliberating and fretting about what to do, I randomly decided a trip to the Bruneau Sand Dunes would do the trick. Ethan helped me plan our little trip for a couple different things in his scout book.  My little buddy is almost a Wolf now.
So I booked a camping spot for a large tent, and the next day I found myself frantically trying to pull everything together after being in class for 6 hours. I managed, sort of. We only had to stop at the store about 4 times on the way there to pick up essential items I suddenly realized I forget, but Brett got a nice surprise and we finally got to the Dunes like Brett's been saying he wanted to for the last couple of years. And I forgot his sock, so I would like to point out his doofy-looking long socks with his shorts. I'm so glad I forgot his short socks, just so I can forever look at that picture of him and smile. It makes him look like such a boy scout.
I think this is my favorite Ty picture of the day. He has the most awesome grumpy face ever, and all I did was tell him to follow us, not fall in the swampy mosquito water.
Now of course we were the only crazy people to be climbing up the really, really big hill. And of course we had two babies to be carrying the whole way.  I'm pretty sure I burned off all the calories I consumed that day.

These pictures simply do not to justice to how steep and how very deep this hole is! It's immense! I couldn't capture on camera just how far it is, but Brett at that point isn't even half way down the thing. He has Tyler on his lap, who now wants to go live at the Dunes and never leave.

This kid would dive off the top of the dunes and go swimming down the sand. It was hilarious!

All of our kids were awesome troopers. They unfortunatly have parents who like to walk and hike and do difficult things, but they just go right along with us for the ride. And only occationally complain. Tyler fell asleep in my arms as we were walking back to camp, and all of the kids were asleep before we hit Mountain Home on our way home. That was after the giant milk shakes we ate at the local '50s dinner.

Happy Thought, Indeed! said...

You rock for climbing the big hill! (Maybe that's why we didn't see you...we didn't venture past the small one!)

Fun photos. Love the socks.
